MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich., March 1, 2018 -- Join Central Michigan University’s PR Central and PRSSA members as well as 1,500+ ducks in the race of a lifetime for the chance to win a large cash prize, complimentary stay at the resort or an Apple TV and other prizes.
PRSSA and PR Central members, Central Michigan University students, and Mount Pleasant residents all come together to enjoy one of the most unique student-ran events of the year. The Duck Derby takes a fresh twist on the traditional duck race by dumping thousands of rubber ducks down one of Soaring Eagle Waterpark’s waterslides as participants and viewers excitedly watch at the finish line near the lazy river. Soaring Eagle Waterpark hosts this yearly event and at 6 p.m. on March 28, 2018 all are invited to attend the sixth annual Duck Derby.
Immediately following the race, winners will be announced. Participants do not need to be present at the event to claim their prize.
The first duck to cross the finish line will win its buyer a cash price of $500, while the second-place finisher will receive a two-night stay at the resort with waterpark passes. Third place will be awarded an Apple TV or a CMU Prize Bundle.
Each duck costs $2 and can be purchased online through PR Central’s website, in person from an organization member, or on the day of the event at Soaring Eagle. The proceeds assist PR Central and PRSSA in day-to-day funding, such as hosting guest speakers. They also help fund the organizations’ multiple scholarships and the yearly trip to the national conference.
PR Central and PRSSA are two student organizations on Mount Pleasant’s Central Michigan University campus that promote professionalism and real-world experience in the Public Relations field.
