New Cybersecurity Operations Center to Benefit Three Michigan Hospitals, Michigan Hospital Association

Increased cybersecurity implemented across Michigan Medicine, Munson Healthcare, and Beaumont Health will protect information of doctors, students, and patients at all three locations and beyond.

What: Shared facility for Michigan Healthcare Security Operations

Where: Plymouth, MI

When: Ribbon cutting for the building to take place on Wednesday, September 12, with operations to begin after.

Who Will Be Affected: Between the three organizations, approximately tens of thousands of students, staff, and doctors, and hundreds of thousands of patients will benefit in increased protection. Additionally, the facility will enable institutions to share information, practices, and resources.

About: Michigan Medicine, Munson Healthcare, and Beaumont Health will partner with the Michigan Hospital Association to share key processes and cybersecurity threat information. All three institutions will host team members in the facility to monitor tools, technologies, and threats for mutual cybersecurity interests. Employees will monitor and respond to threats for the initial partnering organizations primarily, but plan to cooperate with other healthcare organizations and critical locations throughout the state to remediate their security concerns as well. This will better detect, identify, and protect against all potential cybercrime and computer vulnerabilities. The facility represents a unique method of cybersecurity, introducing the first of its kind in Michigan.

Additional information: A strategic, Michigan-based vendor, Sequris Group, enabled this cross-institution idea to materialize. Through devotion to Michigan healthcare, Sequris provides the infrastructure that will keep the system operational, along with additional technological materials and talent resources.
